Nakasendo Walk

Touch the heart of Japan

13 passes

As the name “13 passes” shows, this part between Okute and Ooi, has hilly road.  Until you reach the mid town of Ena(Ooi), the roads are gravel or narrow enough asphalted, and you see seldom cars.

In the area called “Yotsuya”, people are lovely and have a welcome drink or food if you have a prior contact.  Or, even if you just pass by, you will have a chance to get fruits, Japanese cake once they have a resting time during the outside work for their fields.
